Collaborating with your Team

Share3D supports private collaboration among invited collaborators. In order to initiate a collaborative session, you will need to follow these steps:

  • Upload your 3D file to Share3D
  • Invite others to collaborate with you
  • Use the Share3D commenting system to collaborate
  • Manage collaborators as desired

Privately Shared Files

It is important to note that when you are using he collaboration features, the file will be privately shared. This means that only the specific initiated collaborators will have access to the file and collaboration tools.

Inviting a Collaborator

To invite a collaborator view a 3D file, then open the Share 3D.

Then click on the invite button and enter email addresses of those that you would like to invite. When you invite a collaborator, the Share3D system will automatically create and send an email notifying that they have been invited. This email will include a link to the file and they will be able to access the file once they have created a Share3D account.

When they create the Share3D account they will need to use the email that you sent the invitation to in order to access the collaborative session. If a different email is more appropriate, then you can send them another invocation to the correct email and remove the initial invitation.

Once they have accepted the invitation they will have access to file and the collaborative session.

Collaborators and the Share3D Free Plan

The Free account allows users to manage or access a small number of files. This means that you can send files to your vendors, suppliers and customers and they will be able to view the first few without purchasing a Share3D plan.

Accepting an Invitation

When you have invited a collaborator, they will receive an email indicating the next steps that should be taken to accept the invitation. To join a collaborative session, the invited must create a Share3D account.

Once they have created the account and signed into Share3D, the invitation should be available from the Files page of their new Share3D account. If they are an existing Share3D user then they may find that using the filter "Shared with Me" provides an easy way to find session that they are invited into.

🚧

Collaborators Email Address Must Match

The email address used by the invited collaborator to create a Share3D account must match the email used for the invitation to the collaborative session. This is what the Share3D system keys on. If these do not match, then the invited collaborator will not see the session in his account when he signs in.
